Smarts and Personality
Some friends and I have been talking about this a little bit. Basically, to what extent does a person's level of intellect influence their personality?
Personally, I think that how smart somebody is has a lot to do with their personality. Well, maybe not necessarily personality as much as it is choices. I am kind of struggling with this question. I may change my mind.
Anyways, your opinion would be appreciated because I'm not sure what I think about this.
I don't think personality and intellect are very connected, and I think they have to be judged separately. Look at our class alone: we're all intellectuals-in-the-making (I feel that's fair to say, especially relative to our grade's population), and our personalities are all over the board. Extroverts, introverts, comedians/entertainers, observers/thinkers, whatever you want to label as a personality trait. You would see the same thing in a "regular" level class - quite the variety of personalities, shy to shameless to attention seekers to worrywarts. I, for one, don't notice a pattern in intellect/personality correlation - and after all, don't we form knowledge from recognizing patterns?
ReplyDeleteWell, people who are more intelligent do have a bit more moral fiber. And in general they are less offensive and surly, though I can attest to being both of those things. I just think that people in high level classes care about school for the most part. This is not a personality trait per se but it contributes to a positive attitude.
